Mod Podge, Glitter & Christmas Ornaments

A couple of Christmas's ago I tried to make my own ornaments. You know, those glass ornaments at Michael's or A.C. Moore. Well, it didn't go very well. I had a very good plan, just very poor materials. The package straight up lied. I had these adorable snow globe rub on's and the packaging said it was perfect for just what I was trying to do....yeah right. So they collected dust for a while and then I tossed them out. I just wasn't meant to make Christmas ornaments. I was much happier buying my Hallmark Keepsake ornament anyway :-)

Well, I was at Michael's the other day and there were those glass ornaments, and they were on sale for 50% off. So I thought I would give it one more try. I had no idea what I was going to do with them, but I picked up one pack. This is what I did.

There not as perfect as I would have liked, but it was my first set. And let me tell you something it's not that easy to cover a glass ball in Mod Podge and then cover it in glitter and not cover yourself in Mod Podge and glitter. After the Mod Podge dried I covered them with a couple of coats of waterbased varnish from Folkart. Word to the wise, when you rinse out the dish you've used for the varnish, make sure it's completely rinsed out of the sink. I was scraping varnish and glitter out of my bathroom sink this morning :-) Oh yeah, and don't wear black when working with glitter.

More glittery things to come (once I get some more glue sticks for my glue gun...grrr why do I run out of the important things after I've been to Walmart?!?!?)

Until next time....

Whatever could it be?!?!?

Stamp By Step Guest Designer

I am so excited to be the guest designer Cheryl over at Stamp-By-Step for December. I love her store. She's great, if you're looking for something she doesn't carry she will find it. Here is what I created for her. The cards feature paper from the Clair de Lune collection by Fancy Pants and The Gingerbread Man by Piggy Tales, along with the Stampendous Stretchy Snowmen clear stamp set. I used MS Word to make my own sentiments.

These were a little extra project I did. Not exactly Christmas, but the papers just worked so perfectly. They're 2x2 ceramic tiles I picked up at Lowe's. I used Mod Podge to stick the papers to the tiles and I painted the edges white. I thought they were kinda pretty.

Until next time....

Week 17 SSDS We Wish You A Merry Christmas

Can you believe Thanksgiving has came and went and Black Friday is already over?!?!? Christmas shopping is in full swing. If you're not quite in the Holiday mood yet, we've got a challenge over at Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays that should put a little jingle in you step. This week is a holiday inspired challenge, so get out those Christmas stamps, pull out the Christmas paper and show us what ya got.

Here is my Christmas card:

I made this card while at a Black Friday crop at my good friend, Boni's house. Instead of braving the malls, we decided to stamp, it was a lot more fun :-) I'm not sure where the paper is from, but I believe the image is Stampin' Up!

Be sure to visit the rest of the Design Team to see what they've come up with and visit Stamp, Scrap & Doodle, Saturdays to see what you are playing for from this week's sponsor - The Cutting Cafe.

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Until next time....

Christmas Memory Book

This is  a memory book I recently finished for a sales display I have at my dear friend Rhonda's salon, Level 35 Hair & Skin Co, here in Charlottesville, VA. I also have my cards on display there as well. This book can be completely customized for the color palette that you are looking for. It makes a great gift for your child's teachers, neighbors, unexpected guests, and Secret Santas. You can see the entire book here.

Please email me if you are interested in ordering a memory book or holiday cards. Don't wait till the last minute :-) And if you're in Charlottesville, be sure to stop by Level 35 to see Rhonda...tell her Jenn sent you!

Until next time....

Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays Week 16 - Flower Pot Cards

Finally....a new post from me :-) I had the flu last week, so I spent it on my couch. The one time I tried to make it upstairs to my craft room I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make it back down. I was really disappointed that I couldn't participate in last week's challenge, I loved Carlie's sketch and I am so loving the Fresh Brewed images we got to work with.

So, on to this week's challenge! Everything's coming up roses over at Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays with our Flower Pot card challenge. I will admit that while I was putting my card together that I wished that I had the flu this week instead of last. I only have one flower punch and I had no way to make leaves. I found a clip art image of leaves online, so I printed it out and started coloring it. As I'm coloring it I realized that I have to also cut it out. It was a pretty detailed little leaf. I decided that I was going to make due with what I had and just make it my own. I used a tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers. Here's what I did:

I had a vision when I started and like most of my cards, this wasn't it :-) I love the colors, I just wish I could have done something a little different with the flowers. Sometimes you just have to make due with what you have. Be sure to stop by the rest of the design team and see what they've done. And stop by Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays to see what you are playing for this week.

Can't wait to see what you create!

Until next time....

Week # 14 Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays

It's Saturday...time for a new challenge over at Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturdays! This week we have a special folds challenge for you, so grab your Scor-It (or Scor-Pal) and get folding. And don't worry, if you're not ready to do the Tri-Shutter card, there are tons of other options out there. Splitcoast Stampers is filled with tutorials.

I did a Spring Card.

The image is from a retired SU! set (I don't know which one.) Patterned paper is Martha Stewart, picked it up on clearance last year right after Christmas. Cardstock is SU! Except the white, I've found that I have better luck coloring on cardstock I picked up at Walmart in the office supply aisle :-) I got the awesome sparkly flowers from Cheryl at Stamp By Step. I love her store, you should check it out! And yes that is machine stitching, I need to work on turning the corners.

This week you are playing for a Stampin' Up! prize package provided by ME! When I decided to sponsor the challenge I was still a demonstrator and I had put together a prize package. With the changes that happened in September I decided to resign, but I didn't want to back out of my commitment to the group.

Be sure to check out all the other ladies and see what's un-folding on their blogs.

Here is the tutorial that I used to make my Spring Card:
